a bit drained..
Starting to feel a bit of a loss of energy today, New York being over in a bit over a week. Tonight caught Tim Barnes + Nate Wooley at Free103point9 gallery. Liked a little bit of it although as Tim said there was a bit of a communication problem. Gave him a CDs worth of laptop feedback. He said he likes high freq stuff so he might dig it. Wrasses was a guitar/laptop duo. The guy blew his amp, good for about a minute but not focussed enough. Last was a trumpet guitar and laptop trio with the laptop processing the real instruments and coming out from the PA behind the audience. Wandered on a bit, can't say I really enjoyed it. Met up with Jaime there, a guy I met a couple of months ago. Might have a beer or something next week although doesn't look like there'll be time for us to jam. These New York people don't seem to respond to emails, I sent one a month ago..
Last night there was a bit of a breakcore/mash up night at The Knitting Factory. First up was Dev/null who did some breakcore and crashed his PC twice. End was next who was a kind of kitsch mash up. He had 2 dancers in furry purple bunny suits and quite fun for some bits. Food for Animals were a kind of noisy hip hop. Maybe like Dalek but less aggressive and worse songs. Donna Summer was the star of the show for his 'Cock Rock Disco' album launch. Lots of 80's type guitar solo stuff over disco and breakcore beats. He basically danced around doing stupid poses, playing air guitar and encouraging people in the audience, some times to get naked. Three guys showed their dicks to win stuff but no ladies. Last up was Duran Duran Duran who did more crazy breakcore, probably the most coherent of the night although very male and aggro as witnessed by the NY punk style hardcore moshpit/floor.
