Surreal drones
Tonight I caught Colin Potter of Nurse with Wound fame down the road on South 6th St. The first set got a bit beat orientated and was pretty nice with droney washes but the second set was really good. Very surrealistic and meditative, no beats in that one. The supports were largely forgettable. Last night was the winter solstice and Phil Niblock decided to do his annual 6 hours of continuous film and drone at Experimental Intermedia. I find his films of peasants doing manual labour a bit mundane and mostly ignored them, although some of the fishermen ones were interesting. I only lasted through 5 hours though.. I know, I'm not hardcore!
