just borderline ambient

I went to a nice space in Williamsburg called Monkeytown tonight. It's like a limited capacity venue where the performer plays in the middle of the audience all surrounded by 4 huge video screens. They were playing the new Cat Power DVD when I walked in which was pretty pastoral. Tonights act was The Dead Texan. Being one member of Stars of the Lid and his girlfriend they had that slow melancholy vibe going but the ambient almost borderlines on Moby like cheese sometimes. (Their music doesn't have anything on Music for Nitous Oxide for example.) Video projections going as well/ washy/ hazy + some crappy mod stuff, kind of relaxing. At least they served food as well at this place although I did have pesto in my dish and broke the vegan diet which is well, not super strict i guess..
