U.S.A. U.S.A.
Caught USAISAMONSTER on Friday. Suitably noisy for a Load band, impressed me more than the recordings and things got a bit crazy for the last song. They were supported by a band called Mirracle of Birth which was just a drummer and back up sequencers. Started off well but then went down a very long, drawn and definitely prog path. Other band on the bill was Japanther who didn't get me that interested but the crowd seemed to be. I left around 3 when they were still going.
Tonight I saw Pandatone (kind of generic latop indie). Then came Akron/Family who are a new signing to Young God. They were quite good, folky/droney but sometimes the vocals did bother me. The damn bassist kept pulling rock moves and squirming even though they were all seated! I'm sure that was Michael Gira as well wearing a wide brimmed hat and helping lug their gear. Final act of the night was Stars like Fleas who were OK but I left before they finished. Kind of got boring.. I didn't really like some of their frequencies.
